Today, for class, we took a trip to Belmont Plateau in Fairmount Park.
It was so much fun. Earlier this week, we finished out box kites. Hemming the edges to a quarter inch, and making them the perfect length to tightly fit around our box kite frame.
Today we attached the bridle to our kites as well as the spools.
Then, all seventeen of us, including Asuka, pilled into the twelve person van. Lets just say we did eventually make it to Belmont Plateau safe and sound.
Here are some pictures and videos of the kites we flew put together in a video montauge I made.
Now that we have practiced with the box and hexonagle kites, our Big Project is to create a kite, more sculptural than actually being able to fly, ourselves. You can either come up with your own design or copy a kite in your own way. All types of kites are open. So, being so enthused about this project, and everything 3D, I created my prototype tonight in the studios. Here are some pictures of the small kite that I will eventually be making almost five times this size.

Hope you enjoy!!! Hope to hear from all of you soon!
So comforting to see you having fun in your tie-dyed shirt! Keep on flying!
