So sorry for not posting sooner!
These last two weeks have been filled with creation, projects, studying (blaah), and things to look forward to!
As you saw in the last post with the 30 drawings of an object, I thought you would enjoy some close-ups since they are now hanging in my room!
We had to continue this project with two more steps, which I enjoyed very much!
The second step to this project was creating one large image of your object. We were allowed to use color, or black and white, and any material we wished. So going along with my 30 drawings, I used more newspaper, some cardboard, and as many different materials as I could.
I decided to consider how I would use the materials more carefully this time around though. I decided that I would use one material for each step of creation.
I started with colored pencil, then marker, then chalk pastel, then marker, then crayon, then tape.
I love the way it has turned out!
this version is a little cropped, but you can get the idea!
The third and final part of the project was eight color studies using chalk pastel of our object. This step was more restricted in the material and paper choice.
The color schemes we had to focus on were monochromatic (one color), complementary (red/green, blue/orange, yellow/purple), and analogous (colors that are directly next to each other).
I still enjoyed this one a lot. I hope you do too!
On our way home, I kept finding all these really cool little soliders on the street (along with some other things). I think they're the secret soldiers of Philadelphia, but you can decide for yourself!

In 2D, we have been focusing on color mixing, and the creation of multiple colors and the approach to get there. Our first project was a 'happiness' project. Everyone had to create a piece that reflected happiness. It is actually a lot harder than you would think. What I enjoyed most about this project was seeing the end result of everyones. No one had the same image, the same style, the same approach, and that was really interesting to look at. Happiness does come to everyone in a different way.
As you'll see, in the critique, by professor stated it seemed like an illustration in a children's book. One student said it looked as if the sky was a curtain coming down on the sun to end the day. I did not even think that while designing and creating this project, but I love hearing things like that in critiques.
The way your work is interpreted is crucial to the creation of it itself.
this isn't that great of a picture, but you can get the idea!
In 3D, we are building concrete forms. I could try to explain what i've done so far, but its probably too confusing for you to understand. We are having a critique on it Tuesday, so i'll be able to take pictures then and show you! I am enjoying 3D very much!
For Art History, we have to go to the Philadelphia Museum of Art every fourish weeks to look at a piece of art that we're studying and do a visual analysis essay. My friend Missy and I took a trip to the PMA, and I borrowed my friend Jane's camera to take some nice photo's of my adventure! I thought they came out nice!

They just seemed really cool to me!
I also went to my first Temple Men's Basketball Game against Charlotte with my friend Melynda. She's one of the Women's Basketball Team Managers, so she helped me understand everything about basketball. The men won by one point, which they seem to be doing a lot lately. Here are a few pics from the game.
HootaThon has been doing spectacular! Everything has been running smoothly, and as we are able to do more activities and plan more events, the word of what we're doing has begun to spread across campus! The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia was just ranked as the Best Children's Hospital by Parent's Magazine, as well as best in Cancer Care, Orthopedic Care, Emergency Care, Premine Care, Heart Care, and Pulmonary Care. It just makes it so much more meaningful to be serving a hospital that is an incredible hospital for kids. The hospital is closed to visitors until March 31st because of flu season, so we are unable to visit the kids until then. Luckily, we have come up witha few ideas to show the kids we still are here for them even though we're not able to visit them. For Valentines Day, we asked students to create valentines for the kids. We had some awesome pop-up valentines received and Lisa, my CHOP correspondant, even sent me pictures of the kids with the valentines! I hope you enjoy them as much as I did!
This makes me smile more than anything else!
HootaThon has also planned a Bone Marrow registry drive for Feb. 27th! This is our first event on campus, and we are hoping it goes awesomely! haha.
I think the best news I have, maybe just for Maggie and I, is that we will be seeing.....
Beyoncé this summer at the Wells Fargo Center. We are excited beyond belief, and I mean, I guess I have no more words than that!
It was so nice, to see Maggie, Deb, and Peggy and Mark this weekend! Thank you so much for treating me to dinner and brunch! I had a lot of fun as I always do, and it is always nice to see family from home!
But, hope to see you all soon! Lots of love!
